Kazakhstani schoolchildren take gold and bronze at International Olympiad in Geography

Kazakhstani schoolchildren took gold and bronze at the International Olympiad in Geography, which was held in France. This was announced on his Facebook page by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov, El.kz reports.

"Our schoolchildren continue to please us with their successes at international Olympiads. They won 1 gold and 1 bronze medals at the International Olympiad in Geography IGeO-2022," the minister said.

The gold in the treasury of the national team was brought by Sanjar Khamitov from Aktobe, and the bronze by Yerkebulan Tazabek from Shymkent.

"I note that this is the second gold medal of Kazakhstanis in the history of the country's participation in the prestigious Olympiad. This year's intellectual competitions were organized by France. They were attended by 216 schoolchildren from 54 countries. The high achievements of our children at the Olympiads in mathematics, physics and now geography show the high competitiveness of our schoolchildren. Congratulations to our medalists on their victories! We are proud of you! I also express my great gratitude to the teachers who form high-quality knowledge in children. And special thanks to parents for raising talented children," Aimagambetov wrote.

This year, for the first time, the winners of these Olympiads will receive support measures that have never existed before.

On behalf of the President, it is planned to pay substantial cash bonuses and enter national universities without passing the UNT.

A schoolboy who won a gold medal will receive a cash reward of more than 4.5 million tenge, a silver medal - more than 3 million tenge, a bronze medal - more than 1.5 million tenge. Payments will also be received by teachers who have prepared schoolchildren for competitions.
