The Ministry of Trade and Integration summed up the results of its work for the 1st half of the year, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the government.

According to Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Zhanel Kushukova, for 5 months of this year there has been a positive dynamics of Kazakhstan's foreign trade. In January-May of this year, the foreign trade turnover amounted to 51.3 billion dollars. Exports grew by 59% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 34.2 billion dollars. Trade with the EAEU countries also continues to show positive dynamics.

“The trade turnover of Kazakhstan with partners in the EAEU for 5 months of 2022 amounted to $ 10 billion, which is almost 5% higher compared to the same period in 2021. Work continues to eliminate barriers for Kazakhstani goods in the markets of the EAEU countries," Zhanel Kushukova said.

In turn, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Assel Zhanasova said that to date, the Ministry is implementing 9 digital projects. Among them there is the introduction of a social wallet with a payment system.

"To date, work on the pilot project for the introduction of a "social wallet" continues with the participation of interested state bodies, organizations and second-tier banks," Assel Zhanasova said.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov noted that it is necessary to introduce a "social wallet" before the end of the year.

"The implementation of the project will ensure the rapid creation of a digital tool for the distribution of social support funds for the population with the provision of monitoring of the effectiveness of their use," the minister said.

During the meeting of the board, the Chairman of the Trade Committee Yerzhan Kazanbayev also made a report. According to him, domestic trade has grown. In January-June of this year, the volume of trade amounted to 20.6 trillion tenge. Including retail trade accounts for 6.1 trillion tenge, wholesale - 14.5 trillion tenge.

At the same time, Bakhyt Sultanov instructed the Chairman of the Trade Committee to take an active part in the work of the Ministry of Agriculture on the development of a Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Sugar Industry. He noted that the plan should be aimed at a significant reduction in import dependence and a gradual transition to self-sufficiency. It is also necessary to accelerate the launch of the National Commodity Distribution System with a network of ORCs with the involvement of interested investors.

During the meeting of the board, the Chairman of the, the Committe for Technical Regulation ans Metrology Arman Abenov, the Deputy Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee Almas Abzhapparov and the Head of the, the Ministry of Trade and Integration Zhanibek Nupirov on the activities of the Ministry also made a report.

Summing up the discussion, Sultanov instructed the vice ministers and chairmen of the committees to take on special control to ensure the timely and high-quality fulfillment of all obligations, including new instructions of the country's leadership. A separate instruction concerned the consideration of the responsibility of the leadership of the Trade Committee in connection with the criticism of the head of state, voiced at an expanded meeting of the Government.
