Flights between Kazakhstan and Turkey to increase by more than 2 times

The number of flights between Turkey and Kazakhstan will double. To such an agreement during the official negotiations of the aviation authorities of the two states, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In pursuance of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan following the state visit to Turkey in May 2022, official negotiations were held on July 27, 2022.

The Kazakh delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev, the Turkish delegation was headed by the Director General of the Aviation Authorities of Turkey Kemal Yuksek. The negotiations were attended by representatives of Kazakhstani airlines Air Astana and SCAT, as well as representatives of Turkish airlines Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Tailwind Airlines, Freebird Airlines.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to increase the number of permitted flights between Kazakhstan and Turkey by more than 2 times, from 40 to 93 flights per week from each side, including from 7 to 14 flights on the Nur-Sultan - Istanbul route, from 13 to 21 flights per week on the Almaty - Istanbul route, and new cities were added for flights on the territory of both countries.

A significant increase in the number of flights between the countries will also contribute to meeting the growing transit passenger traffic through Kazakhstan's air hubs from the CIS countries to Turkey.
