USA to help Kazakhstan return illegally transferred assets

The delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan held working meetings in the United States with the leadership of the US Department of Justice, representatives of the FBI and the World Bank, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Within the framework of the trip, they discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in specific criminal cases, sending requests in electronic format, exchanging experience in the field of combating cybercrime, concluding treaties on extradition and on the transfer of convicts were discussed.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, representatives of the US Department of Justice assured of support and readiness to assist the Kazakh side in finding and returning criminal assets from the United States to Kazakhstan.

The World Bank also discussed issues of supporting Kazakhstan's efforts to return criminal assets transferred abroad, including to offshore jurisdictions, and conducting trainings for prosecutors and investigators in this area of cooperation. Representatives of the Bank supported these initiatives of the Kazakh side.
