Young writers and poets to receive Presidential Literary Award

This year, a new Presidential Literary Award will be introduced, designed to support young talents. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov during a meeting with young writers, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department.

The Presidential Literary Award will be awarded in four categories: "Prose", "Poetry", "Dramaturgy" and "Children's Literature". Laureates in each category will receive four million tenge, the title of "Laureate of the Special Presidential Literary Award", a diploma and a lapel pin.

Participation in the competition is open to writers aged 18 to 35 years. Applications are accepted from June 1 to June 30 both in writing and electronically. The main requirement is that the proposed works are new and have not previously participated in national and international competitions.

Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov noted: "Such initiatives are important not only for the development of domestic literature, but also for increasing content in the Kazakh language, especially in the field of children's literature. We also pay special attention to the development of theatrical art. Our goal is to significantly increase the number of productions of works by domestic authors. I am sure that young playwrights will play an important role in this."
