Year of Vocational Professions in Mangystau region: opening of new specialities in water drainage, hydrogeology, industrial automation
At the Government session, the Akim of Mangystau region Nurdaulet Kilybay said that the action plan for The Year of Vocational Professions has been approved and the regional headquarters has already started its work,El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
In 2025-2026 it is planned to open a training and laboratory building, to hold a hackathon of new ideas, international industry championship DostiSkills-2025, international industry accreditation. It is also planned to open IT hubs and competence centres with the support of employers, to increase the target educational order for specific business requests and to open new specialties in the colleges of the region. In particular, Mangistau Energy College named after Bekbosynov will train in the speciality "Operation of treatment facilities, water supply and wastewater disposal systems", Mangistau Industrial and Technical College named after Turmagambetuly "Hydrogeology and engineering geology".
The educational programmes of the colleges are currently being updated to meet the current requirements of the Atlas of New Professions.
"In the region in 2022, in order to open new professions that meet the requirements of the labour market and ensure employment stability, the Atlas of New Professions project was implemented, which identified in-demand professions in education, tourism and the oil and gas industry.’Within the framework of targeted funding based on a grant from Yesenov University, work continues on the development of the Atlas of New Professions and Competences for the Mangystau region for 2024-2025. This year, priority is given to construction, energy and logistics. At present, work is underway to update microqualifications in the educational programmes of technical and vocational education institutions corresponding to this Atlas. Work on profiling in colleges is being carried out in stages. Qualified specialists are trained in 129 qualifications in 89 specialities. For the academic year 2024-2025, 5615 places have been allocated for 92 qualifications in 65 professions for state educational grants, which is 90% of the grants. Of these, 580 students were accepted for state educational grants under agreements between 70 employers and colleges, in accordance with the real need for personnel. These are large enterprises Kazkor-Transservice, Ozenspetsstroy, ‘KazAzot," Akim noted.
To improve the material and technical base of colleges by 2025, Mangistau Industrial and Technical College is redesigning the former building of the polyclinic for a training and laboratory building, and the design of a new building for two colleges in Beineu district is being prepared.
