Works of kazakh literary classics presented at international Vilnius Book Fair

The 23rd International Vilnius Book Exhibition presents the epic novel “The Path of Abai” by Mukhtar Auezov, the novel “The Return of the Teacher” by Anuar Alimzhanov, and a collection of Kazakh folk tales translated into Lithuanian and published by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Lithuania and the Zhara publishing house, El.kz cites MFA.

Visitors to the exhibition showed interest in the books presented, noting the great work of translating and republishing the works of Kazakh classics of literature. The work carried out by the Embassy and the Zhara publishing house is aimed at expanding the knowledge of Lithuanian readers about the culture and history of the Kazakh people, their souls, and their destiny.

Recalling the history of the republication of the novel “The Path of Abai”, Lithuanian publisher Aidas Zhandaris told how the family of the outstanding Kazakh artist Yevgeny Sidorkin provided the opportunity to use the famous graphic artist's original illustrations, made especially for the first edition of the novel in 1960, in the book.
