Semey hosted a ceremony honoring the winners of the regional stage of the national “Mereyli Otbasy” contest, which recognizes families whose example and way of life serve as a model for the younger generation.
The “Mereyli Otbasy” contest is an important initiative aimed at reviving moral values, enhancing the status of the family, and strengthening the role of parents in raising children. The contest has been held in Kazakhstan since 2014.
Today, there are 198,526 families in Abai region, including 18,983 large families. Each family in the region has its own history, traditions, and contribution to raising the younger generation. This year, 129 applications were submitted from cities and districts across the region to participate in the “Mereyli Otbasy” contest. 24 families advanced to the regional stage.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, the regional akim emphasized the importance of family values in society and expressed his gratitude to all the families who took part in the contest.
“Today, we have gathered for a special event dedicated to family values and honoring worthy families whose example strengthens the authority of the family and passes the best traditions from one generation to the next. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has particularly emphasized: ‘Every person first develops as an individual in their family home, takes example from their loved ones, and absorbs the best qualities inherent in a true citizen. Thanks to the upbringing received in the family, our country is raising a patriotic, hardworking, educated, and cultured generation.’
This year, the national ‘Mereyli Otbasy’ contest is being held in our region for the fifth time. Over the past five years, it has become not only a platform that brings together exemplary families, but also an important tradition aimed at promoting positive examples and moral values and strengthening the institution of the family.
May today’s award serve as an expression of the respect of the region’s residents for you- people who carefully preserve family values and consider their loved ones their greatest treasure. I wish every family prosperity, harmony, and well-being. May children’s laughter always fill your homes, and may the prestige and respect enjoyed by exemplary families continue to grow!” Berik Uali said.
“I sincerely congratulate all the families who took part in today’s contest and became prize winners. To be honest, we did not expect to receive such an award. We have lived together for more than 60 years and raised our children. This award is a great honor and recognition for our family. I express my sincere gratitude,” Zhumagazy Kaidarov, a veteran of the education sector and winner of the contest said.
The winners and prize winners were presented with commemorative gifts and cash certificates.
