What major sports events to take place in Kazakhstan in 2025–2028

Kazakhstan is becoming a hub for world sports. In the coming years, the country will host dozens of world championships and cups, reflecting the high level of trust from international federations and strengthening its image on the global stage,El.kz reports.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, in the first half of this year the country has already hosted several prestigious tournaments: the Junior World Championships in Freestyle Aerials and Moguls in Almaty; the international “Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam” judo tournament in Astana; the World Boxing Cup under the auspices of World Boxing; and the ranking taekwondo tournament “Kazakhstan Open.”
By the end of 2025, Kazakhstan will host around ten more major international competitions.
Next year, the country will welcome the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Shymkent; a stage of the Swimming World Cup in Astana; and the Taekwondo Grand Prix Final in Almaty.
The year 2027 will be of particular significance, as Kazakhstan will host several World Championships:
• in judo;
• in boxing;
• in table tennis;
• in shotgun shooting.
These tournaments will mark an important stage in the development of national sports and in strengthening international cooperation.
In 2028, Kazakhstan will continue its sporting tradition by hosting the World Weightlifting Championships in Astana and a stage of the Freestyle World Cup in Almaty.
