"We hope to win six gold medals" - Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports on Asian Para Games
At the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, Kazakh athletes plan to win six gold medals. The national team of Kazakhstan is preparing for the Asian Para Games in the Chinese city of Hangzhou. This was announced at the CCS site by the Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sarsen Kuranbek, El.kz reports.
"This year we hope to win six gold medals," he said.
The Vice Minister noted that five new sports have been added this year. The national teams held 44 training camps in order to work out preparations for the Asian Paralympic Games. In 2018, Kazakhstan participated in the Asian Para Games in Jakarta in 9 sports, won 5 gold, 15 silver, 13 bronze medals and took 13th place in the team competition.
The speaker said that in the IV Summer Asian Para Games, Kazakh athletes will take part in 14 sports. Athletes will compete for a total of 564 sets of medals.
"Kazakh athletes will take part in 14 sports. In particular, these are judo, swimming, athletics, powerlifting, table tennis, sitting volleyball, archery, taekwondo, shooting, chess, boccia, canoeing, cycling and rowing. In total, there are 131 athletes in the national team," he said.
The IV Summer Asian Para Games will be held in Hangzhou (China) from 22 to 28 October. These games have been held regularly since 2010.
He also pointed out in which sports Kazakh para athletes will represent the country for the first time at the IV Asian Para Games.
"Athletes of sports such as cycling, chess, powerlifting, boccia are taking part in the para games for the first time," said Sarsen Kuranbek.
