Water Sector Development Coordinating Council established in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has established Water Sector Development Coordinating Council which includes representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, UNDP, international organizations, financial institutions and donor communities, El.kz reports.
The main tasks of the council include:
- Ensuring coordinated actions of state bodies, international organizations and donors in accordance with national priorities. The Council will mobilize and effectively allocate financial and technical resources.
- Supporting the development of strategic documents, such as the Water Code and the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Water Sector, as well as strengthening the legislative framework for sustainable water management.
- Introduction of international practices and innovative solutions in water resources management, exchange of experience and capacity building of specialists.
- Development of mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of joint efforts.
- Strengthening regional cooperation to build resilience to climate change and natural disasters.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation. Nurzhan Nurzhigitov noted that the creation of the Coordination Council is an important step to strengthen environmental stability and economic development in the country.
The Council will play a key role in addressing climate challenges and ensuring a sustainable future for Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
