The volume of postal and courier services in Kazakhstan continued to grow, with more than half of the market concentrated in Almaty. In January–August 2026, companies provided services worth KZT 57.2 billion, El.kz reports citing the Bureau of National Statistics.

Compared with the same period of the previous year, the figure increased by 1.1%. Of the total volume, services provided directly to the population amounted to KZT 13.4 billion.

Almaty Accounts for More Than Half of the Market

Almaty remains the country’s main centre for postal and courier activities. The city accounted for 58.7% of the total volume of services provided nationwide.

In monetary terms, companies in Almaty provided services worth KZT 33.6 billion. For comparison, the corresponding figure a year earlier was KZT 33.3 billion.

Astana ranked second, accounting for 13.2% of the national total. During the period under review, the volume of services provided in the capital reached KZT 7.6 billion.

Karaganda Region ranked third, accounting for 3.2% of the national total. The volume of services provided in the region amounted to KZT 1.8 billion.

Services Provided Directly to the Population

Despite the overall growth of the market, the volume of services provided directly to the population declined slightly. In January–August of the previous year, it amounted to approximately KZT 13.6 billion.

In the current year, the figure stood at KZT 13.4 billion. The majority of the overall market volume is attributable to services provided to other categories of consumers.

The statistics cover the acceptance, processing, transportation and delivery of various types of consignments, including parcels, small packets, written correspondence and courier deliveries.

Postal and Courier Services in Rural Areas

The Bureau of National Statistics also provides separate data for rural areas. In January–August, the volume of postal and courier services provided in rural areas amounted to KZT 2 billion.

At the same time, regional statistics indicate a significant gap between the country’s largest cities and the rest of Kazakhstan. Almaty alone accounted for more than half of the total volume of this market nationwide.
