Prices for a number of socially significant food products continue to decline in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports citing the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As of 23 September 2026, a decline in prices for a number of socially significant food products was recorded in Kazakhstan during the reporting week.
Over the week, prices decreased for onions (by 4.3%), carrots (2.8%), apples (2.5%), cucumbers (1.3%), potatoes (0.9%), sugar and chicken meat (0.5% each), as well as bone-in beef (0.4%).
Prices for lamb, chicken, cottage cheese and cabbage remained unchanged during the reporting week.
At the regional level, trends were recorded in a number of cities across the country. The overall price level for socially significant food products decreased over the week by 0.4% in Karaganda, by 0.2% in Aktobe and Zhezkazgan, and by 0.1% in Turkestan.
In Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau, Shymkent, Konayev, Pavlodar and Semey, prices remained at the level recorded in the previous week.
The average nationwide price of onions stood at KZT 142 per kilogram, with the lowest price recorded in Taldykorgan at KZT 107 per kilogram.
The average nationwide price of carrots was KZT 215 per kilogram, while the lowest price was recorded in Pavlodar at KZT 140 per kilogram.
The average nationwide price of apples stood at KZT 727 per kilogram. The lowest prices were recorded in Shymkent at KZT 554 per kilogram.
The nationwide average price of tomatoes stood at KZT 668 per kilogram. The lowest prices were recorded in Taraz at KZT 412 per kilogram and in Turkestan at KZT 416 per kilogram.
