Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Northwestern Polytechnical University of China signed an agreement on conducting microsatellite scientific research, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Kazakh  Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

This agreement was reached during the talks between the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, who arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan.

This initiative is being implemented for the first time at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Working together, in turn, paves the way for space exploration, the training of skilled professionals and the development of shared satellites. This also makes it possible to conduct remote studies of the Earth using a microsatellite.

Northwestern Polytechnic University is the leader in launching space objects in China.

The microsatellite, implemented jointly by the two universities, is planned to be launched into space as part of the SCO Year of Ecology and the 90th anniversary of KazNU.

It should be noted that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the only university in our country that has experience in launching nanosatellites into Earth orbit. To date, the higher educational institution has launched the Al-Farabi-1 and Al-Farabi-2 nanosatellites to the cosmodrome.
