President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his speech at the IV Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, touched upon the main issues of development of the countries of Central Asia, El.kz reports.

"In the context of geopolitical turbulence and instability of the world economy, our meeting demonstrates the cohesion of the countries of Central Asia, demonstrates the common desire to jointly confront new challenges and threats," Tokayev said at the meeting.

According to him, the special nature of relations between the Central Asian countries is enshrined in the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the XXI Century, which is adopted today, which is unique in its content and historical perspective.

"This historic document marks a new milestone in our five-party strategic partnership," the Head of State emphasized.

Further, the President dwelled on the role of Kazakhstan and Asian countries in the development of the world economy.

"I want to assure you that Kazakhstan remains faithful to the strategic course for the comprehensive strengthening of regional cooperation, increasing the role of Central Asia on the world stage. Today, the most important mission of Central Asia, in my opinion, is to build bridges between the competing poles of global politics and economics.

Strengthening cooperation in the field of security and diplomacy remains a key issue on the agenda. This is essential in order to ensure appropriate conditions for the prosperity of the people of Central Asia. The Central Asian region should become a wide area of sustainable socio-economic development, comprehensive cooperation, peace and prosperity.

In order to jointly develop solutions to prevent security threats, a mechanism for regular consultations of the Secretaries of the Security Councils should be launched. In addition, I propose to instruct foreign ministers to hold meetings on a regular basis, at least once every six months, to develop coordinated approaches to key issues of regional and international issues," the President said.
