Tokayev receives Commissioner for Children's Rights in Kazakhstan

President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Kazakhstan Dinara Zakiyeva. During the meeting, the results of the work to ensure children's rights and the further strengthening of the child protection system were discussed, El.kz reports citing the press service of Akorda.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was provided with information on the work for the protection of children's rights and the strengthening of the child protection system.
Over the past two years, a number of measures have been taken, programs and laws have been developed aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of children's rights, preventing violence, suicides, and juvenile delinquency.
As part of this work, the Commissioner for Children's Rights has initiated 120 amendments to legislation.As Dinara Zakiyeva noted, this year monitoring of the situation was conducted in 13 regions and 73 populated areas, including anonymous surveys of children in 272 institutions and visits to 173 families. As a result, 171 violations in the implementation of adopted laws and the functioning of the system for protecting children's rights were identified.
In addition, the study of the situation in the regions confirmed the effectiveness of the 112 family support centers, which play an important role in preventing domestic violence and violations of children's rights.
Work is underway to create child protection departments within the regional akimats, and a draft law is being developed to establish the functions and status of regional authorities responsible for child protection.
The Children's Rights Commissioner reported on the implementation of the directives from the Head of State and the enforcement of enacted laws. In particular, she spoke about the activation of work to create rehabilitation and development centers for children with special needs.
Currently, Kazakstan Khalkyna Public Fund together with its partners, has opened 49 rehabilitation centers that provide services to children with special needs.
During the meeting, issues related to the preparation of the "Children of Kazakhstan" program, ensuring online safety, and protecting the personal data of minors were also discussed. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of consolidating the efforts of local executive bodies and regional representatives to strengthen the system of guarantees for the protection of children's rights and to create comprehensive support for children.
In addition, the Head of State instructed to explore additional measures for the development of inclusive education in schools.
