Tokayev launches work of transport and logistics terminal in Xi'an
The Head of State launched the work of the transport and logistics terminal in the city of Xi'an, built as part of a joint project of Kazakhstan and China via teleconference , El.kz reports citing Akorda.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of creating the center for the industry and for Kazakh-Chinese relations as a whole.
This event was followed by an agreement between the leaders of Kazakhstan and China on the construction of a logistics center in the dry port of Xi'an, which will connect the Chinese city of Shaanxi with Kazakhstan, Central Asia and further with Europe.
The city of Xi'an is the hub transit center of China, and the dry port is the largest in this country. Up to 40% of the total volume of container trains between China and the EU is formed here.
The design capacity of the Kazakh terminal in the dry port of Xi'an is more than 66.5 thousand TEU (twenty-foot equivalent) per year. The terminal will open access to new markets for exporters from our country, significantly reduce the delivery time of goods and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as a reliable transit hub in Eurasia.
