
Tokaev receives Executive Co-Chairman of Board of Directors of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd
The Head of State met with Robert Friedland, the Executive Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd, El.kz reports citing Aqorda.
The meeting discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of geological exploration, mining, and metal processing.
The President has been informed about the commencement of large-scale geological exploration work in the Chu-Sarysu Copper Basin in Kazakhstan.
Ivanhoe Mines previously announced an allocation of $18.7 million for studying the subsoil in this area, with investment increasing to $115 million over the next four years.
Robert Friedland stated that advanced airborne geophysical technologies and data digital analysis are planned to be applied in the implementation of this project.
According to him, the realization of the project, which is one of the largest in the history of copper exploration in Kazakhstan, opens up new prospects for global copper production.
