Strengthening of inter-parliamentary dialogue discussed in Brussels

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the European Union, Roman Vassilenko, held a meeting with the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Central Asia, Giuseppina Princi, El.kz cites Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning the further strengthening of multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union, as well as prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary interaction.
Particular attention was paid to the forthcoming 10th anniversary of the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between Kazakhstan and the EU, which became an important milestone in bilateral relations and laid a solid foundation for strategic interaction in political, economic and other spheres.
Ambassador Vassilenko acquainted his interlocutor with the main points of the recent Address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the people of Kazakhstan, noting the ongoing political reforms and initiatives aimed at further improving the state system, including the possible holding of a national referendum on the abolition of the Senate of Parliament.
The sides noted the steady development of Kazakhstan–EU relations, reaffirmed their shared interest in further strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as advancing joint initiatives in the areas of the green economy, transport, energy, digitalisation and education.
The importance of deepening inter-parliamentary dialogue was emphasised as one of the key instruments for strengthening mutual understanding and trust between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
In this regard, the parties discussed preparations for upcoming events and outlined plans for joint work in the coming year.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the partnership based on mutual respect, shared interests and a common aspiration towards the sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region.
