State Counsellor Yerlan Karin met with the head of the short-term OSCE observer mission Irene Charalambides and the head of the delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Reinhold Lopatka, El.kz cites Akorda.
The State Counsellor informed the interlocutors about changes in the electoral system and the electoral process within the framework of large-scale political reforms of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
It was emphasized that Kazakhstan has provided the necessary conditions for full-fledged monitoring of the preparation and holding of parliamentary elections. And the participation of OSCE international observers contributes to the openness and transparency of the electoral process.
In turn, I. Charalambides and R. Lopatka expressed support for the democratic development of Kazakhstan and noted that the deputies of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly are watching with particular interest the progress of the systemic transformation of all major political institutions within the framework of the reforms carried out in Kazakhstan.
A delegation of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly consisting of about 80 parliamentarians arrived in Kazakhstan to observe the upcoming March 19 elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This is the twelfth election observation mission of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Kazakhstan since 1994.
