Sports programming to become priority sport in Kazakhstan
On September 19, Astana hosted a press conference dedicated to the final of the 2024 ICPC World Finals. During the event, further plans for the development of the IT sector in Kazakhstan were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which officially introduces sports programming into the Republican List of Priority Sports, El.kz reports.
President of the Federation of Sports Programming of Kazakhstan Bagdat Mussin stressed that this is an important step to popularize programming among young people and create a platform for the exchange of experience between IT specialists. The Federation will continue to support Kazakhstani teams by developing training, trainings and educational programs. Special attention will be paid to the translation of IT materials into the Kazakh language to make them more accessible.
Timur Turlov, CEO of Freedom Holding Corp., noted that supporting such events contributes to the development of human capital and strengthening the international reputation of Kazakhstan as a country with high IT potential. According to him, such initiatives are a long-term investment in the future of the country, which will be able to take a strong position in the global IT arena.
ICPC Foundation President Bill Poucher noted that it is important for ICPC to continue to contribute to the development of the IT industry and support the community of like-minded people that is being created around programming competitions.
