“I have met with the President of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Olle Dahlin. We discussed the Junior World Championships in Shchuchinsk and the development of biathlon in Kazakhstan. The official opening ceremony will be held today.
I thanked the foreign guest for the trust placed in our country. I have no doubt that the world championship will be held at the highest level. To do this, we have everything, including the climate and modern sports infrastructure. For example, the Olympic Training Center for Winter Sports in Shchuchinsk meets all international standards.
The upcoming tournament is a significant event for our sport. Such an event is held in Kazakhstan for the first time. More than 500 athletes from 38 countries will arrive in Shchuchinsk, including Sweden, the USA, South Korea, France, Germany, Norway, Austria, Canada, Switzerland, Japan and others.
Mr. Dahlin shared his experience in popularizing biathlon in Sweden, and also expressed readiness to advise Kazakhstan on the construction of a new ski and biathlon complex in the city of Tekeli” Askhat Oralov writes.
