Scientific and practical conference held in Cairo in honor of 800th anniversary of Sultan Baibars
An international scientific and practical conference was held in Cairo with the participation of scientists from Kazakhstan, Egypt, the Netherlands and other countries. The event is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Sultan Baibars, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev read out an official letter from the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in which the President noted the importance of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Egypt, and also thanked those who contribute to their strengthening. After that, the Shapagat medals were awarded to five Egyptian citizens who were actively working on the restoration of the Sultan Baibars Mosque.
These are high-ranking officials and representatives of construction companies.
Further, scientists read out their reports. The speakers, who spoke in Kazakh, Arabic and English, touched upon such topics as the study of the Kipchak-Mamluk heritage in Kazakhstan, the place and role of Sultan Baibars in Islamic history, and the image of a commander formed in culture.
"The scale of this historical figure is great, so scientists examined it from different angles, telling a lot of interesting things about the role of Sultan Baibars in the history of Islam, diplomacy, art," said Minister of Culture and Sports Askhat Oralov.
