The Republican Week of Reproductive Health took place in Kazakhstan from May 12 to 16, El.kz reports.
The initiative for this annual educational campaign was taken by the National Commission on Women Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This year, the focus was on important topics such as family planning, male and female health, HPV prevention, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
According to official data, over 20,000 events were held over the week, with approximately 500,000 participants — this is twice as many compared to the results of 2023.
Around 360,000 posts have been published on social media, and more than 1,500 materials in traditional media.
In addition, as part of the Week, 78,000 free consultations and over 8,000 tests for STIs and HIV have been carried out. This allowed to reach not only youth and students but also families living in rural areas.
Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva thanked partners and participants of the campaign, including government bodies, international organizations - UNFPA, WHO, UNESCO, as well as Kazakhstani NGOs: KAPM, Saulyq LIFE, YPEER, volunteers, and experts.
According to the minister, such a campaign demonstrates effective inter-agency cooperation and confirms that the development of reproductive health culture is an important part of state policy.
