A round table was held in Chisinau on political, economic and social reforms in Kazakhstan, as well as its foreign policy activities, El.kz cites MFA.
The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, business and academic circles, as well as journalists from leading Moldovan media.
In his welcoming speech, Kazakh Ambassador to Moldova Almat Aidarbekov spoke about the implementation of political reforms and the main provisions of the State of the Nation Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, delivered in September this year.
The Kazakh diplomat paid special attention to initiatives in the field of economic diversification and regional development. In particular, the program “Strong Regions – a Strong country” provides for an increase in government funding for infrastructure projects. At the same time, according to Almat Aidarbekov, a number of reforms have already been implemented in regional policy – this is the introduction of direct election of heads of local districts.
Secretary of State of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry Sergiu Mihov stressed the high level of Kazakh-Moldovan relations, expressed readiness to activate them, and focused on the significant investment potential between our countries. He noted that in 2025 it is planned to organize the next 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, Iurie Sсripnik, outlined the existence of significant opportunities to increase mutual trade in the agricultural sector.
The first Ambassador of Moldova to Kazakhstan Valeriu Pasat addressed the President Tokayev, in which he stressed the important role of our country in regional and international affairs, drew attention to the achievements of Kazakhstan in socio-economic, scientific, cultural development over the years of independence. He noted the need to comprehensively strengthen ties between the two countries, especially in light of the planned opening of the Moldovan Embassy in Astana.
Historian Ignat Kazmaly, administrator of the Balti Special Economic Zone Marin Ciobanu, Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan in Chisinau Roman Stankov and in Balti Iurie Jardan, other experts in the field of economics, political scientists and representatives of academic circles noted the solid economic, historical and cultural foundation for deepening Kazakh-Moldovan ties.
Head of the Department of Scientific Activities of the National Archival Agency, PhD in History Aurelia Felea suggested considering the possibility of creating joint research groups and projects.
