Protection measures against locusts completed in Turkestan region

At the meeting of the central operational headquarters to combat the spread of locusts, Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin heard a report on the situation in the regions, El.kz reports primeminisrer.kz.

In Turkestan region all protective measures against locust pests have been completed, the situation is stabilised. According to forecasts, the area of locusts spread in the region was 271.5 thousand hectares, actually treated more - 340 thousand hectares. In Aktobe region 414 thousand hectares were treated, in Kostanay region - 140 thousand hectares.

Chemical treatments against locusts in Abay and Zhetisu, Almaty, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan and West Kazakhstan regions continue. In Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions are completed.

Protective measures against Italian pruce in Akmola, Karaganda, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan regions and Ulytau, as well as against Asian locust in Aktobe, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions will begin as areas subject to treatment are identified. 

Following the meeting of the operative staff, Deputy Prime Minister instructed to strengthen monitoring of territories, control over the quality of chemical treatments, and released in Turkestan region to send equipment to the regions where protective measures continue.
