The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic hosted a meeting between Timur Sultangozhin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece, and Spyridon Xanthopoulos, Director of the Department of External Economic Relations of the Foreign Ministry, El.kz cites Kazakh FM.
During the talks, the parties reviewed current issues and prospects for developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Greece. Special attention was given to organising a business mission of Greek companies to Kazakhstan with a view to diversifying mutual trade, expanding exports and imports, and promoting joint ventures and production facilities.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan provided the Greek side with a detailed overview of Kazakhstan’s investment climate and the conditions offered to foreign companies.
In this context, the sides discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Inter-Governmental Commission on Economic and Technological Cooperation, planned to be held in Athens, as well as ways to expand cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere.
It was particularly noted that the upcoming visit of a delegation from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Athens, scheduled for 14-16 May 2025, will give additional impetus to cooperation, including through the use of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route by Greek logistics companies.
The discussion also covered the expansion of the bilateral legal framework, including agreements on air services, mutual protection and promotion of investments, avoidance of double taxation, and a memorandum of cooperation on crypto-asset regulation.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing the inter-agency dialogue on all the issues discussed.
