Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Belarus discuss development of trade and economic cooperation

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, arrived in the city of Dushanbe to participate in the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Upon arrival, a bilateral meeting took place with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Turchin, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The issues of developing Kazakhstan-Belarus cooperation were discussed, highlighting the need to enhance intergovernmental interaction and coordinate the practical implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

In 2024, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belarus reached $900 million, and as of the first quarter of this year, this indicator increased by 3.6% compared to the same period last year, approaching $200 million. The parties agreed to activate cooperation and strengthen ties between the business communities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the prospects for cooperation within the CIS were also discussed, including joint initiatives to ensure sustainable economic growth and improve the well-being of the populations of both countries.
