Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Denis Sassou Nguesso held talks in an expanded format, El.kz reports.

The leader of Kazakhstan noted that the first visit of the President of the Congo to Astana is taking place on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the states.

"We consider your country as an important partner on the African continent. We are interested in the comprehensive development of bilateral ties. We have a huge potential for cooperation. In particular, it is necessary to intensify cooperation between the two countries in trade and economy, agriculture, transport and logistics, industry, investment, new technologies and space exploration, as well as in the mining sector. I am sure that the documents signed during today's visit will contribute to the deepening of trade and economic relations," the President said.

Denis Sassou Nguesso stressed that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's decision to appoint a diplomatic representative of Kazakhstan in the Congo will strengthen bilateral cooperation.

"Indeed, this is a clear confirmation of your desire to build up effective cooperation between Astana and Brazzaville. Our governments have developed a number of agreements that we have agreed to implement together. This work will be fruitful and mutually beneficial for both parties. We are interested in deepening economic cooperation with your country," the President of the Congo said.

During the meeting, the heads of state discussed the prospects for the development of the Kazakh-Congolese partnership. Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in trade, economic, energy, transport and logistics, mining, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of finance and digitalization.

At the end of the talks, Denis Sassou Nguesso invited Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to visit the Republic of the Congo.
