President Tokayev congratulates Baikonur Cosmodrome on its 70th anniversary

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakhstanis on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, El.kz reports citing Akorda.

In his address, the Head of State recalled significant milestones in the history of the world's first cosmodrome. It was launched in 1957, and in 1961, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin had become the first human to conquer space.

Tokayev expressed gratitude to all generations of scientists, engineers, and specialists who worked at the cosmodrome, and also highlighted the special role of Kazakhstani astronauts Toktar Aubakirov, Talgat Mussabayev and Aidyn Aimbetov.

The President emphasized that Kazakhstan actively participates in international space initiatives. Baikonur remains a strategic object of bilateral cooperation with Russia and could potentially become a global center for science, tourism, and education. Particular attention was paid to the development of young specialists' potential and entering the market of space services.

According to the President, Baikonur will continue to play a key role in promoting scientific and technological progress.
