As of May 1, 2025, the population of Kazakhstan reached 20,353,265 people.
Since the beginning of the year, the increase amounted to 69.8 thousand people, of which 63.4 thousand were due to natural growth, and another 6.3 thousand due to migration, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Bureau of national statistics of the Agency for strategic planning and reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The most notable increase was recorded in Astana: the population of the capital increased by 29.7 thousand people, with 78.3% of them due to migration.
This makes Astana the leader in population growth rates among all regions of the country.
A positive migration balance was also noted in Almaty and Mangystau regions, as well as in Almaty and Shymkent.
