Peter Jackson is in negotiations to adapt The Silmarillion J.R.R. Tolkien 'The Silmarillion'. The Lord of the Rings director may return to Middle-earth to film this book, El.kz reports.

Jackson shared this information in an interview with Deadline. According to him, Warner Bros. and his team are currently discussing the possibility of obtaining rights to other Tolkien books with the younger generation of the Tolkien Estate, with The Silmarillion being their primary focus.

Previously, the rights to this work were virtually unavailable for adaptation.

The author's son, Christopher Tolkien, was opposed to any major adaptations. Following his death, the situation changed, and the heirs became more open to negotiations.

The Silmarillion is a collection of myths and legends that tells the story of the creation of the world, the First Age, the war against Morgoth, the history of the Silmarils, and many key events that laid the foundation for The Lord of the Rings. The book is significantly more difficult to adapt than Tolkien's previous works.

As of now, these are only preliminary talks, and there is no official confirmation of the project's launch. However, Jackson’s statement alone has already sparked massive excitement among millions of Middle-earth fans around the world.
