Permanent representative of Kazakhstan to ICAO takes part in ICAO Council Session
Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Timur Tlegenov made a visit to Chicago (USA), El.kz cites MFA.
During this visit he took part in an extraordinary session of the ICAO Council, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of ICAO and the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (the “Chicago Convention” was signed by 52 states on 1944, December 7 in Chicago, USA).
The extraordinary session was held under the slogan “Safe Skies. Sustainable Future: Together for upcoming 80 Years”. Kazakhstan participated in this session of the ICAO Council as an observer state.
The opening session featured remarks from the President of the ICAO Council, Salvatore Sciacchitano, the Secretary General of ICAO, Juan Carlos Salazar, the representative of the US Department of Transport, the Administrator of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In addition, it had an address of statement of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres.
The speeches of the above-mentioned representatives noted the historical significance and importance of the creation of ICAO, which made it possible to unite not only countries, and entire continents, promoting the development of fruitful cooperation in the areas of economics, transport and trade.
All speakers emphasized that the establishment of ICAO in 1944 allowed the Global Community to develop standards and recommended practices for the creation of safe, comfortable and efficient air transport.
The Ministers, Vice-Ministers of Transport and Civil Aviation as well as the Permanent Representatives of ICAO Council Member States and heads of international organizations, associations and federations (ЕС, IATA, ACI World, ACVFFI, ICCAIA, IFALPA) also addressed their speeches.
The event also included the panel sessions in the format of Round Tables, where participants exchanged views on a wide range of topical issues related to the development of the civil aviation industry, economic growth, environmental well-being, innovation and global challenges, as well as how ICAO will continue to support the development of aviation in the coming decades.
The extraordinary session of the ICAO Council adopted a resolution of the ICAO Council.
It should note that for the first time in history, a Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the festive events dedicated to the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
