The republican cultural and tourism festival “Alaköl Tolqyny” took place on the shores of Lake Alakol in the village of Akshi, attracting more than 5,000 participants, according to the Zhetysu Region Akimat, as reported by El.kz. The festival welcomed visitors from China, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, along with tourists from across Kazakhstan and vacationers staying along the lakeshore. The opening ceremony was attended by Marlen Kolbayev, Deputy Akim of the Zhetysu Region, and Miras Tulebayev, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports. Government officials highlighted the region’s ongoing tourism infrastructure development and efforts to promote Lake Alakol as a travel destination. The concert featured performances by Kazakh artists Turar, Ayree, and Assel Mekebayeva. Visitors also enjoyed performances by stilt walkers and living statue artists, as well as themed photo zones. Festival guests took part in interactive games and competitions throughout the day. The evening program included a DJ performance, a light and laser show, and an open-air foam party. The festival concluded with a fireworks display over the lake. The event has been added to Kazakhstan’s national calendar of events at the initiative of the Zhetysu Region to promote both domestic and international tourism.
