Over 20 streamers held liable in Kazakhstan for unlawful online content

Over 20 streamers have been held liable in Kazakhstan for violations of the law committed during live broadcasts, El.kz reports citing Polisia.kz.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the bloggers used obscene language, engaged in indecent conduct, staged dangerous pranks, and insulted members of the public. The Ministry emphasized that such live broadcasts are accessible to a broad audience, including minors.

A resident of Shymkent Yerbol Duysenbayev used obscene language during a live broadcast on TikTok. The court imposed an administrative arrest of 10 days.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that it will continue identifying unlawful publications and live broadcasts on social media platforms. The requirements of national legislation apply to citizens’ conduct both in public places and in the online environment.
