Over 1,900 AI-generated films submitted to Astana festival

The organisers of the Astana AI Film Festival have received over 1,900 works created using AI, El.kz reports citing the festival organisers.

Submissions have been received from over 90 countries. The largest number of films were submitted by filmmakers from the US, India and Kazakhstan. The Republic of Korea, China and the United Kingdom were also among the most active participating countries.

The festival will be held in Astana from 1 to 3 October as part of Astana AI Week.

Selected films will be screened on the big screen at Chaplin Cinema.

The intl competition will offer a prize fund of USD 1mln. The programme will also feature a conference, project pitching sessions, masterclasses and meetings with professionals from the film and AI sectors.

The jury will include former UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, China Film Group representative Ma Ping, and Wang Hao Xuan of the Beijing Film Academy.

The submission period will remain open till  the end of August.
