Olzhas Bektenov discussed joint projects in energy sector with Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation Dai Houliang

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Chairman of the China National Petroleum Corporation Dai Houliang, who arrived in Kazakhstan as part of the state visit of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, El.kz reports.

Issues of deepening investment cooperation in the energy sector were considered. Particular attention was paid to a joint project to expand the production capacity of the Shymkent oil refinery. The meeting participants discussed the current stage of the project and confirmed their intention to accelerate the pace of modernization for timely commissioning of the facility.

During the meeting, Olzhas Bektenov and Dai Khouliang, using the example of the successful implementation of a joint project for the construction and commissioning of the first line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, outlined the prospects for further building up cooperation in the gas sector.

The Head of Government noted that joint ventures are successful

"Kazakhstan, like many countries, sets itself a strategic task to ensure the country's energy security. First of all, this is the creation and modernization of oil refining capacities. We pay special attention to increasing the production capacity of the Shymkent Oil Refinery.

One of the priorities in the implementation of all our projects is local content issues. If the necessary goods or equipment are not produced in the country, then we propose to jointly work out the issue of their localization in Kazakhstan in the near future," Olzhas Bektenov said, confirming the Government's readiness for an open and constructive dialogue in the implementation of joint plans.
