Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov holds meeting on President Tokayev’s tourism directives

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting on the implementation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instructions in the field of tourism, El.kz reports citing the Government’s press service.

The meeting heard reports from Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov. Key focus areas included the current situation on the shores of Lake Alakol, the organization of summer recreation, and the conditions in the country’s tourist zones. Infrastructure, service quality, and safety issues were also discussed.

The Prime Minister instructed regional akims and relevant ministers to step up efforts and address all deficiencies.

The meeting also discussed the development of the Almaty Mountain Cluster — one of the country’s key investment projects. The initial phase includes the construction of electricity lines, sewage systems, gas supply infrastructure, and roads, along with landscaping of surrounding areas. The long-term goal is to create a world-class resort.

The project also envisions the development of summer infrastructure, implementation of sustainable development principles, digital environmental monitoring, and ensuring inclusivity of tourist facilities.
