Olympic medalist from Kazakhstan disqualified for doping

Kazakhstani weightlifter and bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Igor Son received a long disqualification for doping, El.kz reports with reference to the Sports.kz.

Son was disqualified for eight years, until the end of March 2030. The disqualification began in March 2022. According to the anti-doping center, metasterone was found in the athlete's body.

At the Olympics in Tokyo, the Kazakhstani won the bronze medal in the weight category up to 61 kilograms, as well as the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.
