Nomad Ballet premiered in capital
Last Sunday, Astana Opera delighted its audience with the premiere of Nomad Ballet, El.kz cites astanaopera.kz.
National numbers, presented on the eve of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day celebration, demonstrated the desire of the capital’s opera house to seek new forms of choreographic language in Kazakh dance.
As part of the Nomad Ballet program, art aficionados had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of Kazakh choreographers Sultanbek Gumar, Almat Shamshiyev, Anvara Sadykova, as well as foreign ballet master Patrick de Bana.
“Choreographic numbers presented this evening made me think about many things. I particularly liked the miniature Mangurt by young choreographer Sultanbek Gumar, performed by the opera house’s ballet dancers Limara Aidarova and Ruslan Kanagat. This work is relevant for our time. Unfortunately, in modern society, people pay more attention to material values than spiritual ones. They read and attend theatrical performances less and less, and are more and more immersed in their phones. This can lead to the spiritual decline of society in the future. I would also like to note that the number Dem, staged by Almat Shamshiyev, made an impression on me. I saw real national zest in it. It is a right thing that the opera house is cultivating such talented specialists and providing an opportunity to showcase their work onstage,” one of the viewers, Aiym Mukhanbetzhanova, shared.
The Astana Opera Ballet dancers masterfully embodied the choreographers’ ideas onstage, causing a storm of applause from the audience. Anvara Sadykova’s miniature Sarmatian Priestessto the music by the alternative folk ensemble Steppe Sons, performed by Amina Kissembayeva and the corps de ballet, as well as Sultanbek Gumar’s number Rukh, performed by Islam Kaipbai, filled the atmosphere in the hall with the spirit of fortitude and patriotism.
Sultanbek himself took the stage with the number Qily Zaman staged by Patrick de Bana to the music by the ethno-folklore ensemble Turan. The number, telling the story of the difficulties experienced by the people on the path to independence, perfectly complemented the content of the evening. In addition, duets from the ballet The Call of the Steppe by this wonderful choreographer, performed by Shugyla Adepkhan and Dias Kurmangazy, as well as Olzhas Tarlanov and Assel Shaikenova, conveyed to the viewers the power of love and the ancestors’ wisdom.
The premiere of Almat Shamshiyev’s choreographic miniature Dem became a special event of the evening. Dancers Bekzat Orynbayev, Raimbek Bolat and Doskhan Zaidin harmoniously conveyed each character. This production was memorable to all for its emotional richness and deep meaning.
In addition, the audience also enjoyed the ballet Schéhérazade to Rimsky-Korsakov’s music in Michel Fokine’s choreography. The ballet company’s principal dancers, Honoured Workers of Kazakhstan Bakhtiyar Adamzhan and Anel Rustemova, brilliantly performed the main parts of the Golden Slave and Zobeide. The Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Arman Urazgaliyev sounded impeccable as always.
The Astana Opera Ballet, which earned a standing ovation on its home stage, is preparing to perform at the famous Dubai Opera. As a reminder, on December 19, 20, 21 and 22, the company will present Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker in Yuri Grigorovich’s choreography, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan.
