NIS students create app that can replace teachers

NIS IB students have created ASpan, a gamified educational platform designed to help users learn complex topics in a short and easy-to-understand format. The project was developed due to shortage of school places, teachers, and high-quality materials in Kazakh and Russian, El.kz reports.
The app offers micro-lessons compiled by NIS students and teachers. Each lesson takes only a few minutes but includes key facts, examples, and visual cues, making even the most difficult topics easier to understand.
ASpan covers a wide range of subjects: healthy lifestyle, finance, space, biology, history, art, and other modern disciplines. This variety helps students learn not only school curriculum topics but also additional subjects that rarely appear in textbooks.
“We tried to make the lessons as simple and engaging as possible. We wanted every student to learn in a convenient format without the stress,” the developers note.
The app includes quizzes and interactive tasks. They allow users to check how well they understood the material and make the learning process more enjoyable.
A unique feature of ASpan is its in-app game economy. Users earn virtual currency for completing lessons and can use it to build their own islands and unlock bonuses.
“Gamification helps maintain interest and motivates students to keep learning,” the team explains.
ASpan was created by NIS students Asanali Shomanov, Isatai Mirman and Nariman Issenov. According to them, they were inspired by the real need for accessible, modern, bilingual educational resources.
The creators note that ASpan is already receiving positive feedback from students and teachers, and the team plans to expand topics, add new game elements, and release updates for users across all regions of the country.
