New model for development of National System for Assessing Quality of Education identified in Kazakhstan

According to the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a new model of the National Assessment System has been formed to improve the quality of education. It makes it possible to get a complete picture of the quality of education in the country, analyze and take into account the impact of various factors, El.kz reports citing the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This year, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed the National Framework for Assessing Secondary Education to systematize all assessment tools, which includes four components: student assessment, teacher assessment, assessment of educational organizations and assessment of the education system.

The National Framework for Assessment of Secondary Education is a document developed on the basis of OECD recommendations. It combines internal and external assessment tools together. For example, at the student level: formative and summative assessment, final certification, as well as the results of the international PISA study for schools.

In addition, the ministry is working to improve the national tool for external assessment of the quality of education - the Monitoring of Educational Achievements of Students. Now MEAS is undergoing the accreditation procedure at the international research certification center RCEC (Research Center for Examination and Certification) in the Netherlands. It will bring the content and procedures of MEAS in line with international standards.

Kazakhstan participates in six international surveys: PISA, PIRLS, ICILS, TIMSS, TALIS, PISA for schools. This year, our students entered the TOP-50 in mathematics and science, increasing their performance by 26 points in science and maintaining their results in mathematics and reading.
