New law "On Mass Media" contributes to comprehensive development of industry - political scientist

Political scientist Alikhan Bazarbek from the Institute of Applied Ethnopolitical Research shared his opinion on the address of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the solemn ceremony of awarding media workers, El.kz reports.

- The law not only regulates the media sphere, but also contributes to the comprehensive development of the industry and the protection of the rights and interests of journalists. The journalistic community has long demanded the updating of the legal regulation of the activities of the media, since the old law, adopted in 1999, did not take into account the modern realities of the information sphere. It did not cover new sources of information, such as social networks and instant messengers, and did not take into account the significant technological progress that has affected the tools for the production and distribution of content, including artificial intelligence," Alikhan Bazarbek wrote.
