Two new healthcare facilities are scheduled to open in Astana by the end of 2026. These include an adult admissions and diagnostic complex and a paediatric trauma care unit, El.kz reports.

This was announced by Astana mayor Zhenis Kassymbek following visits to healthcare facilities accompanied by First Deputy PM Nurlan Nogayev and Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova.

Which facilities will open this year?

A new admissions and diagnostic complex will be established at City Multidisciplinary Hospital No. 2. The five-storey building, with a total floor area of 7,120 square metres, will have the capacity to receive between 700 and 900 patients per day.

The facility will house admissions departments for adults and pregnant women, a trauma care unit, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) rooms, operating theatres, a stroke centre, and intensive care and resuscitation departments.

Patients will be able to undergo diagnostic examinations and receive emergency medical care within a single facility. The opening of the complex will also create 50 jobs.

Another facility will be established at City Multidisciplinary Children’s Hospital No. 2. The new extension will house a paediatric trauma care unit equipped with a resuscitation room, an operating suite and radiology diagnostic rooms.

Future hospital and polyclinic construction plans

A 250-bed perinatal centre is scheduled to open in the Saryarka district in 2027. Construction of a 300-bed multidisciplinary city hospital is expected to be completed in 2029.

In addition, construction of a polyclinic in the Yesil district, designed to accommodate 500 patient visits per shift, is scheduled to begin at the end of 2026. Similar facilities are planned for the Sarayshyq and Nura districts at a later stage.

“Overall, 10 healthcare facilities are planned for construction over the next three years, including two perinatal centres, a new state-of-the-art multidisciplinary hospital, five polyclinics and two ambulance substations,” Zhenis Kassymbek wrote on social media.
