The “Nomads of Kazakhstan: Past and Present” exhibition, curated by the Almaty City History Museum, has opened at the renowned Castel Nuovo in Naples, one of the city’s key attractions. The exhibition’s goal is to enhance cultural links between Kazakhstan and Italy and introduce the Italian audience to the history and culture of the Great Steppe’s nomadic people, including their traditions, daily life, philosophy, and worldview, El.kz cites MFA.

Organised by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Campania region with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Italy and the Almaty Museums Association, the exhibition features over 140 exhibits. The exhibition space is divided into thematic zones: traditional yurt decorations, horse equipment, household items, jewellery, and musical instruments.

“Kazakhstan is the heir to a great nomadic civilization,” said Yerbolat Sembayev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Italy, during the opening ceremony. “Over thousands of years, our country has been a crossroads of many societies, cultures, and religions. Kazakhstan is genuinely proud of its ancient history and rich cultural heritage. Much of what is integral to modern society originated in its territory.”

The opening ceremony was attended by over 300 people, including representatives from cultural, academic circles, business communities, and the tourism sector. Guests also enjoyed traditional Kazakh compositions performed by musicians Aiaulym Kunanbay, Dias Muratkhan, and Yerasyl Yeginbayev.

Guests had the opportunity not only to view the exhibition items but also to taste Kazakh national dishes prepared by Italian students from the “Multicenter” professional service training school.

The “Nomads of Kazakhstan: Past and Present” exhibition at the Almaty City History Museum will run until December 14 of this year.
