Nadezhda Morozova makes history for Kazakhstan at world speed skating championships

Kazakhstani athlete Nadezhda Morozova achieved the best result in the country's history in women’s all-round title at the Speed Skating World Championships in Heerenveen, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the "Directorate for Sports Development" of the Committee for Sports and Physical Education of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Nadezhda Morozova represented Kazakhstan, competing in the 500, 1500, 3000, and 5000-meter distances.

Based on her performance across all distances, the Kazakh skater scored 160.435 points and secured 7th place in the overall standings. This result is the highest ever achieved by a female athlete from Kazakhstan in the classic allround at a World Championship. Morozova set a new national record for the total allround score.

Her performance in the 5000-meter race deserved special recognition. In this event, she recorded the best time of her career and set a new record for Kazakhstan. This result is a significant achievement for the national team,

Norway's Ragne Wiklund took the gold medal in the classic allround. Second place went to Marijke Groenewoud of the Netherlands, while Miho Takagi of Japan claimed the bronze.

The championships in Heerenveen served as the final event of the season for the Kazakhstan team. Nadezhda Morozova’s performance allowed the team to update national records and demonstrate the progress of domestic speed skating on the international stage.
