A state-of-the-art dairy farm, SK Agro 2050, has been commissioned in the North Kazakhstan region. The facility features Kazakhstan’s and Central Asia’s largest 100-stall rotary milking parlor. The new complex is expected to significantly increase milk production and become one of the largest dairy facilities in the region, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan region.
A new stage in the development of the dairy industry
The new dairy farm has commenced operations in the Magzhan Zhumabayev District. Upon reaching its designed production capacity, the enterprise will be capable of producing up to 150 tonnes of milk per day, positioning the facility among the largest milk producers in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The project is being implemented as part of the national programme for the development of modern dairy farms, initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The programme has already demonstrated positive results in the North Kazakhstan Region and is being progressively expanded to other regions of the country.
Total investment in the project is estimated at approximately KZT 30 bln. Once fully operational, the enterprise will provide over 120 permanent jobs.
The region’s largest rotary milking system
The key feature of the new complex is the 100-stall rotary milking parlor manufactured by the German company GEA Westfalia. The system ensures high milking efficiency, reduces labour requirements, and enables comprehensive digital monitoring of production processes.
The farm is equipped with an automated herd management system, digital feeding control, a computerised feed mill, and intelligent livestock health monitoring. Automation covers all core operations, including animal movement management and climate control within the facilities.
“Today, the North Kazakhstan region is the country’s undisputed leader in the adoption of advanced technologies in dairy farming. Of the region’s 118 dairy farms, more than 50 already operate as ‘smart’ enterprises. Gennady Zenchenko’s dairy farm currently maintains approximately 9,000 head of cattle, including a milking herd of 3,600 cows served by a 90-stall rotary milking system manufactured by the German company GEA Westfalia. The new SK Agro 2050 complex will be even larger, with a total herd of 12,000 head of cattle. Its 100-stall rotary milking parlor is the largest not only in Kazakhstan but across Central Asia,” said Gauyez Nurmukhambetov, Akim of the North Kazakhstan Region.
Further expansion of the complex
During the first phase of construction, the project delivered an 800-head dairy barn, a milk processing unit, facilities for dry cows and maternity care, calf housing, and a modern compound feed plant.
“Since the beginning of the year, 585 head of highly productive pedigree cattle have already been imported from Germany by air. By the end of the year, an additional 660 head will be delivered from European countries”, Chief Technologist and Manager of the SK Agro 2050 dairy farm Vladimir Sergeyev said.
He also highlighted the benefits of digital technologies implemented at the enterprise.
“The animals remain calm and voluntarily enter the milking parlor. The absence of stress factors contributes to high productivity. All production processes are highly automated, while intelligent monitoring systems enable the timely detection of any changes in animal health,” Vladimir Sergeyev noted.
North Kazakhstan region expands investment in the dairy sector
Implementation of the regional programme for the construction of modern dairy farms continues across the North Kazakhstan region.
Currently, 44 investment projects with a total value of KZT 144.5 bln are under implementation. Their objective is to increase the output of processed agricultural products, strengthen the country’s food security, and establish a modern raw material base for the food processing industry.
