Museum of contemporary art opens in Almaty

Today, the Almaty Museum of Arts was officially opened in the metropolis, El.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Information, the new cultural center positions itself as a platform designed to support the development of contemporary art and highlight its significance in the global cultural context.
The museum’s collection includes over 700 works by Kazakh and international masters.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva, Akim of Almaty Darkhan Satybaldy, museum founder Nurlan Smagulov, as well as representatives of the art community and the media.
In her welcome speech, Aida Balayeva noted that the new museum combines art, modern technologies, multimedia solutions, and creative industry tools. She recalled President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s message that the new generation of Kazakhstanis sees the foundation of patriotism not only in traditions and language, but also in creative innovation.
“I am confident that the new museum will not only contribute to the development of culture and art, but will also give new momentum to the growth of the southern capital’s tourism potential, making a significant contribution to promoting the art of Kazakhstan and Central Asia on the international stage,” Balayeva added.
