At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Mitsubishiunveiled the Elevance Concept, a rugged SUV with a trailer that turns into a whole campsite, El.kz cites techeblog.com.
You tow a small pod behind the vehicle, then watch as it unfolds into a bedroom, kitchen and even a shower space, all powered by the SUV’s battery; no tent or cooler required (at least not once you arrive).
The Elevance SUV is a design stunner, with sleek lines running from front to back. Low down at the front it has a big grille between super slim headlamps and that glass cabin sits above the muscular fenders, it looks like it’s floating in mid air. The side windows are raked downwards so you get a great view of the scenery as it whizzes past. When you open the doors there are no B pillars to get in the way so you feel completely open and spacious.
Inside there are six seats, three rows and flat on the floor. The front seats now have a clever trick, they can swivel their backs forward so you can look back at the rear and turn the interior into a lounge. And you control it all from one big screen that spans the dashboard and shows you the blind spots in front of you or just below the bumper. And this tiny screen nestled in the steering wheel, where the AI (your personal driving assistant) gives you hints and tips on routes and drive modes based on the road conditions.
The trailer itself is the magic trick; it appears compact on the road, but once at the campsite, it unfolds – stage after stage. One side opens open a glass capsule to expose a bedroom with a double bed and a glass roof. The other side simply lifts up to show an outdoor kitchen complete with a double burner on a two-burner stove, grill, and a sink powered by a built-in water pump. On the other hand, the battery in this trailer charges from your SUV, allowing lights, appliances, and even a hot shower to operate all night.
Lifting the back tailgate gives you access to the storage trunks, where you can put all of your gear. Want extra space? Simply place an optional tent behind the raised side wall to create a comfy covered area for a few more seats or beds. Every inch of our setup, including the seats and floors, is coated with ultra-durable materials that can be wiped down with a dirty boot or a sandy footprint.
The Elevance package takes care of everything; just charge the SUV at home, hook up the trailer and hit the road. The battery will power the trailer’s kitchen and lights for several days so you can set up camp and enjoy the peace and quiet. And when you’re done just fold the whole thing back up and you’ll be towing something smaller than most boats. Mitsubishi’s tagline for the whole thing is “Forever Adventure” and their goal is to give you a hassle free way to get out there without sacrificing any comfort.
