Ministry of Health develops measures to improve women's health in Kazakhstan
At the meeting of the Government, Minister of Health Azhar Giniyat presented measures to strengthen women's health in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The priority in the health care system is preventive measures and screening tests to detect diseases in early stages including breast and cervical cancer.
In general, non-communicable diseases remain the leading cause of death for women in Kazakhstan, and the incidence in women increased by 4% over the year.
Almost 3 million women were taken to the dispensary register, and almost 2 million women were treated in hospitals, 500 thousand surgical interventions were performed. Life expectancy for women is 74 years, which is 7.7 years higher than that of men.
To improve women's health, the approaches of preventive examinations for rural residents have been revised, screenings for the detection of diseases of the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory organs have been expanded. An innovation is the coverage of screenings of persons aged 18 to 29 years, 9 areas of consultative and diagnostic services are carried out without visiting the GP.
Within the framework of the Istanbul Protocol, new approaches have been implemented to examine, record bodily injuries, abuse and violence, including women and children. A socially-oriented model has been introduced in primary health care, where departments of prevention and socio-psychological assistance have been created and more than 2 thousand social workers and 1.5 thousand psychologists work.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Health has been entrusted with the medical support of convicted persons, including women and children. Measures are being taken to improve the provision of medical care to them.
To improve the health of women and pregnant women: it is planned to build 12 perinatal centers that meet international standards, according to the new standard, felsher-obstetric care is organized in settlements where more than 500 people live.
